Director Stéphane Sednaoui wanted to capture the raw energy of New York City, so he placed Björk on the back of a flatbed truck and drove through the streets in the middle of the day. The entire shoot was essentially improvised, with Björk performing the song on a loop while unsuspecting pedestrians watched from the sidewalks. The result is one of the most iconic "performance" videos of the 90s, proving that you don't need a massive budget if you have enough charisma to fill the frame. The version of the song used in the video is actually the "Fluke Minimix," which is significantly more upbeat and electronic than the original album version found on Debut. Stéphane Sednaoui used similar black-and-white, high-contrast photography for the Red Hot Chili Peppers' "Give It Away," establishing his signature visual style. The video was shot entirely in black and white 16mm film to give it a timeless, high-fashion aesthetic, contrasting the gritty city streets with Björk's white slip dress.
