Björk's "It's Oh So Quiet" is a full-blown musical brought to life on an ordinary street. Director Spike Jonze deliberately rejected high-gloss glamour, drawing on classic films like The Umbrellas of Cherbourg to find spectacle in the mundane: an auto-repair shop becomes a Broadway stage and strangers become dance partners. The famous sweeping final crane shot was a complex practical effect captured in a single, perfectly choreographed take. The umbrella sequence is a direct tribute to Gene Kelly's Singin' in the Rain, and the song itself is a cover of a 1951 Betty Hutton number, which explains the vintage tap-dancing choreography.
