Cibo Matto
Cibo Matto's "Sugar Water" is a visual palindrome. Directed by Michel Gondry, the video uses a split screen to tell two parallel stories simultaneously: one side plays forward in time, while the other plays in reverse. This demanding concept required incredible precision from the performers, who had to learn and time their actions perfectly, both forwards and backwards. The result is a clever exploration of cause, effect, and perspective, where every action has a mirrored reaction, all culminating in a seamless, symmetrical loop.
