Crystal Method / Filter
In 1997, Hollywood tried to bridge the gap between Rock and Techno by pairing bands from each genre together for the film Spawn. The standout track was this collaboration between The Crystal Method and Filter. To match the dark, comic-book tone of the movie, they hired director Sigismondi, Floria (known for Marilyn Manson's "The Beautiful People"). She applied her signature "body horror" style to the video, turning the band members into twitching, grimy specimens in a sci-fi laboratory. The track is a reimagining of Filter's song "Trip Like I Do," remixed and expanded by The Crystal Method specifically for the film. Sigismondi, Floria is also famous for directing hits like Christina Aguilera's "Fighter" and David Bowie's "The Stars (Are Out Tonight)." The glowing green eyes and special effects in the video were practical lighting tricks, designed to mimic the aesthetic of Spawn's necroplasm energy.
