"Hund" by Das Ding Ausfm Sumpf is less of a rap track and more of a mirror held up to human nature. Working on the music video made me realize how double edged social media really is: it grants us daily front row access to the refugee crisis, yet endlessly rewards performative virtue. The most insidious of all its disguises is the mask of "sensitivity." To visual this, I brought elements into the footage ; plastic bottles, stars, and heavy flames carried on shoulders toward germination. They leave an undeniable mark on the faces of those posing as so called saviors. This tension between genuine empathy and performative posturing drives the clip's visual identity. It lights up a world inspired by coastal lighthouses and the deepest ocean trenches, keeping the humanitarian work of Sea-Watch at its absolute center. Underneath it all lies the concept of the "nest" the idea that every human is a home, and every home is human. We are all passengers on a doomed, decaying ship, completely oblivious to when we will go under. Yet dogs far more intuitive than any of us. Can catch the scent of that rotten, performative sensitivity from miles away. In the end, we cannot look away: no death that washes ashore ever truly sinks.
