Hypervuur
Noise. That’s how it starts. A hard, gritty, relentless beat. Then, a soundbite from the American comedian, George Carlin, about losing faith in humanity, followed by a news anchor reporting yet another homicide. Hypervuur kicks off right afterwards, with his monotonous, distorted voice: “As an unfulfilled promise, humanity never ends. We are a killer plague, resistant to pesticides”. This is El fin de la humanidad (The end of humanity), a song that mocks our constant obsession with our extinction due to wars, pandemics, or climate change, only to keep on living as prisoners of our own devices.
