This goofy music video about a dog with horns actually led to lawsuits and death threats. In 1994, Los Embajadores Vallenatos released "El Santo Cachón," a massive Vallenato hit about being cheated on. To visualize the Colombian slang for infidelity ("putting on the horns"), the director literally taped horns to a dog and filmed it wandering around a farm. While it looks like a low-budget comedy to modern eyes, the song's lyrics were blamed for a spike in divorces and even suicides in Colombia, leading to the composer being sued for "violating morals." It is a rare example of a music video that was intended to be funny but ended up having tragic real-world consequences. The video was filmed on a modest farm in Sopetrán, Antioquia, which was chosen simply because it was available and cheap, contributing to the video's accidental "home movie" aesthetic. The song title playfully invents a religious figure, "Saint Cuckold," mocking the sanctity of marriage, which is why conservative groups targeted the composer, Romualdo Brito. The park in Barranquilla where Brito originally saw the cheating couples (Parque del Sagrado Corazón) is still colloquially referred to by locals as the "Park of the Holy Cuckold" because of this song.
