Queen's "Bohemian Rhapsody" is arguably the video that started it all. Faced with being unable to perform on the TV show Top of the Pops, the band and director Bruce Gowers shot this masterpiece in just four hours. The video's most famous shot is a direct recreation of their Queen II album cover, and its groundbreaking effects were created with simple, practical camera tricks. It was a massive hit that set the standard for music videos as an art form. The iconic "four heads in a diamond" shot was the band's idea. It was a direct re-creation of the cover of their Queen II album, which was photographed by the legendary Mick Rock. The video's popularity exploded for a second time in 1992 after being famously featured in the movie Wayne's World, introducing the song to an entirely new generation. Director Bruce Gowers went on to have an incredibly successful career in the US, directing the live finals of American Idol for nine seasons.
