Gin and Juice was directed by Dr. Dre and shot at a house party in Long Beach for what has been reported as almost nothing. It peaked at number eight on the Billboard Hot 100 and received zero VMA nominations — it did not need any. The low-budget handheld aesthetic became its own template: a blueprint for how rap videos could look deliberately unpolished and feel more real for it.
