The White Stripes
The LEGO animation wasn't a digital effect — it was a frame-by-frame rebuild of a real live-action shoot. Michel Gondry's crew printed out every frame of Jack and Meg's performance and used them as guides for the brickwork, limiting the palette to red, white, and black. LEGO initially refused to sell bricks in bulk, not wanting to be associated with a rock video, so the crew sourced them from retail stores; much of the frame-building team included Gondry's own son.
