Tool guitarist Adam Jones — a highly trained special-effects artist who previously worked on Jurassic Park and Terminator 2 — used agonizing stop-motion animation, full-body sand suits, and practical scaling to build a literal mutant race entirely by hand. MTV deemed the title too offensive for television and renamed the track "Track #1" for the broadcast graphic.
