Mark Romanek put Weezer in a completely empty dance hall, relying entirely on aggressive practical lighting cues flashing in real time to generate visual excitement. Rivers Cuomo was notoriously uncomfortable filming music videos, so Romanek specifically designed a shoot that hid him behind intense strobes and shadows.
